Can I meditate lying down?

You can, but lying down, the mind mistakes stillness for bedtime. Every night of your life, lying down has meant letting go of everything, and that habit is strong. Sitting upright keeps a thread of alertness, and that thread is the whole point. If your body needs you flat, lie flat, but keep your eyes half open. Next time, lie on your back with your palms up and your eyes open, and count ten breaths without losing one.
