How do I accept things I cannot change?

Acceptance is what's left when you stop arguing with reality. You can't force it, so don't try. Notice instead how much of your day goes to the argument: the replay in the shower, the speech you rehearse on the commute, the "it shouldn't be this way." That argument is the suffering, not the thing itself. Next time the argument starts, put one hand on your chest, feel three full breaths, and say quietly, "This is how it is."
