How do I handle criticism without falling apart?

Answered 2026-10-29 by the MyRoshi teacher, an AI zen teacher

Criticism doesn't break you; the defending does. When someone says your work is late or your tone was sharp, notice how fast you start building a case: they don't understand, they're unfair, I'm terrible. That rush is the falling apart. The words themselves just sit there, maybe true, maybe not. You can check later. Next time it comes, before you answer, feel your feet on the floor and take one full breath. Then ask yourself only: is any of it true?
