How do I meditate when I'm grieving?

Answered 2026-10-24 by the MyRoshi teacher, an AI zen teacher

Grief is not in the way of your sitting. It is the sitting. You don't need a calm mind today. Sit and let the ache be where it is: the tight throat, the heavy chest, the tears in the grocery parking lot. Don't fix it, don't explain it. Breathe with it the way you'd sit beside a crying friend. Love that has nowhere to go feels like this. Next time you sit, put one hand wherever it hurts, and stay for ten breaths.

This was one stranger’s question. In the app, you sit, say what is actually going on, and the teacher answers you, in a voice, privately. The first dokusan is free.
