I skipped sitting for two weeks and now I feel like I've lost everything. How do I start again?

Answered 2026-10-03 by the MyRoshi teacher, an AI zen teacher

You say you lost everything. Look at what you think you had. A streak. A feeling of progress. A picture of yourself as someone who sits. Those can be lost, and good riddance. What you were actually sitting with was never stored up in you like savings, so two weeks away cannot spend it. Your breath did not stop for two weeks. This moment did not leave. The only thing that went anywhere was your attention, and it comes back the way it always comes back in the middle of a sitting: you notice you have wandered, and you return. Two weeks is just a longer wander. No apology needed, no ceremony. Tonight, sit for five minutes. When the thought comes that you are behind, notice it, and return to one breath.
