I want enlightenment. Is wanting it the problem?

Wanting it is fine. Waiting for it is the problem. The wanting brought you to the cushion, so thank it. But notice what happens next: you sit, and part of you keeps checking the horizon, asking if it's arrived yet. That checking is the only thing between you and here. Enlightenment isn't somewhere you get to. Next time you sit, each time you catch yourself measuring, feel your breath land in your belly, and let that be enough.
This was one stranger’s question. In the app, you sit, say what is actually going on, and the teacher answers you, in a voice, privately. The first dokusan is free.
