I'm afraid of what I'll find if I look too closely at my mind.

Answered 2026-10-07 by the MyRoshi teacher, an AI zen teacher

What you're afraid of finding is just more mind. Look anyway. Whatever comes up, anger, envy, grief, something ugly you thought you'd outgrown, is weather passing through. It is not a verdict on who you are. The fear itself is the first thing you'll find, so start there. Notice where it lives: throat, belly, jaw. Being seen does not make it stronger. Next time you sit, when something unwelcome appears, silently say "this too," and keep breathing. Then wait for the next thing.
