Is it okay if I cry every time I meditate?

Answered 2026-10-28 by the MyRoshi teacher, an AI zen teacher

Crying is not interrupting your meditation. It is your meditation. Something has been waiting for you to sit still long enough to feel it, and now you have. Don't chase the tears and don't stop them. Don't explain them either. Just notice where they are: the throat, the chest, the eyes. Next time you sit and they come, keep your posture, keep breathing, and let your face be wet.
