I've had a glimpse of something deep in meditation and now I keep chasing it. What do I do?

Answered 2026-10-11 by the MyRoshi teacher, an AI zen teacher

What you're chasing now is not the glimpse, only its memory. The glimpse came when you weren't looking for anything. That was its whole condition. Now you sit down with a picture of it and measure every breath against the picture, and of course the breath loses. Let it go the way you let go of last night's dinner. It fed you. It's finished. Next time you sit, when the wanting arises, name it, wanting, and come back to this breath, the plain one.
