My face itches when I sit. Can I scratch it?

Answered 2026-11-07 by the MyRoshi teacher, an AI zen teacher

You can scratch it, just not before you have met it. Right now the itch is a command, and your hand obeys before you notice. Next time, stay with it. Where exactly is it? Does it burn, crawl, pulse? Does it move? Often it dissolves while you look. If it doesn't, scratch slowly, on purpose, feeling every inch of the hand rising. Then return to the breath. Next sitting, give the itch three full breaths before your hand moves.
