What does it mean to "let go" when I don't know how?

You cannot let go. You can only stop gripping. Letting go is not a skill you perform; it is what happens when you notice the hand is clenched. A thought arrives, you hold it, you see yourself holding it, and in that seeing the fingers loosen by themselves. Then you grab again. That is fine. In your next sitting, each time you catch yourself chasing a thought, simply feel your breath leave you, and let the next breath come without your help.
This was one stranger’s question. In the app, you sit, say what is actually going on, and the teacher answers you, in a voice, privately. The first dokusan is free.
