What does "no self" mean in ordinary life?

Answered 2026-10-19 by the MyRoshi teacher, an AI zen teacher

You don't get it because there's no one there to get it. Notice how much of your day runs without anyone in charge: the coffee gets poured, the lane gets changed, the email gets answered. The self shows up afterward, taking credit or making complaints. No self doesn't mean you vanish. It means the doing was never waiting for a doer. Today, while washing one dish, watch for the one who is washing. Look closely. Then keep washing.
