What is the point of bowing?

Answered 2026-10-16 by the MyRoshi teacher, an AI zen teacher

Bowing is how you put your head below your heart. All day the head leads: it plans the commute, rehearses the meeting, argues with the inbox, keeps score. A bow lowers it on purpose, for one breath, and the body learns what the mind forgets. Nothing is owed and nothing is gained. Tomorrow, before you sit, bow once to the empty cushion, slowly, and notice who straightens up afterward.

This was one stranger’s question. In the app, you sit, say what is actually going on, and the teacher answers you, in a voice, privately. The first dokusan is free.
