What is the right posture if I can't sit cross-legged?

The posture is not in your legs; it is in your spine. Sit on a chair, a bench, a cushion against the wall, whatever lets you stay. Feet grounded. Let the hips sit a little higher than the knees. Lift the crown of the head as if a thread pulls it gently upward, and let everything else hang from that. Stillness does not care what you are sitting on. Next time you sit, before anything else, find your sitting bones and rest on them.
This was one stranger’s question. In the app, you sit, say what is actually going on, and the teacher answers you, in a voice, privately. The first dokusan is free.
