What should I do when I feel bored on the cushion?

Answered 2026-10-12 by the MyRoshi teacher, an AI zen teacher

Boredom means you are waiting for something better to arrive. Nothing better is coming. This breath is the whole show, and you keep checking your watch. Boredom is not empty; it is restless, a little hungry, a little proud. Feel it where it lives: the heavy jaw, the fidgeting hands, the sigh. Look at it closely and it stops being boring. Next time you sit, when boredom comes, do not escape it. Count three breaths and find its exact location in your body.
