Why do I feel more anxious after meditating, not less?

Answered 2026-10-09 by the MyRoshi teacher, an AI zen teacher

Meditation did not make the anxiety. It stopped you outrunning it. All day you stay busy enough not to feel it; then you sit down, the noise drops, and what was already there gets loud. That is not failure. But do not fight it. Next time you sit, when the anxiety rises, find where it lives in your body, chest, throat, belly, and rest your attention there for three breaths, the way you would hold a frightened bird.
