Why do I keep yawning every time I sit down to meditate?

Answered 2026-11-06 by the MyRoshi teacher, an AI zen teacher

Your body knows you finally stopped running. All day you hold yourself up for the commute, the inbox, the next thing, and the moment you sit, the guard comes down. A yawn is not a failure of practice. Sometimes it is plain tiredness, and that is worth knowing too. Either way, do not fight it and do not make it mean anything. Next time you sit, let the whole yawn come, feel it finish, then return to your breath.
